My point is we should not make blanket statements. Just because someone decides not to spay/neuter dosen't automatically mean they are irresponsible pet owners. This is assinine. My female was spayed and my male was neutered at 1 because of an un-descended testicle. I basically had to anyway because I didn't want him trying to hump my female every two seconds. The neutering definately curtailed such behavior. Some might call me a party pooper.LOL I have had unaltered males in the past and never had an un-wanted litter on my hands. Its called keeping your dogs on your property. As far as the female goes, I had no intention to breed and I just don't feel like dealing with the whole heat thing. Moral of the story: listen to Richard. Its personal preference most of the time.
Testosterone has been found to encourage the growth rate in prostate tumors. In many cases the testicles are removed when the man has prostate surgery. It is becoming less common, but it is still done. Richard did you read my first post...I explained that. I am fully aware that they use castration or remove the prostrate from men that suffer from prostrate cancer, but I don't think they are very happy people aftwards.
I know you can neutor your dogs, but if you want a protection dog don't you have to wait till after they have full matured. Thats what I meant.
Lauran:
yes you do think with you testicles to some extant. The brain has androgen receptors. Thats what makes a guy a guy.
People need to stop getting pet advice from Bob Barker.
No you don't have to wait, One trainer I work with neuters all his dogs. He doesn't want to deal with the problems with intact dogs. They are outstanding protection dogs.
The idea that what makes a guy a guy is testicles is silly. What makes a guy a guy is that they have learned to be a guy through their life time. To attribute it to any one thing just isn't going to wash. It comes down to attitude, not glands.
If you can't be a Good Example, then You'll just have to Serve as a Horrible Warning. Catherine Aird.
I hear ya Rich but you gotta admit....it does kinda help to have them.LOL <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
