I agree with you Susan! So many of these little dog crosses or purse puppies as I like to call them are foul tempered little demons. The "breeders" of these dogs are just in it for a couple of bucks calling them new breeds and most of the people that buy them are clueless to how a dog should be raised. Yes these hybrids are dogs too, and should be treated as such eventhough they wear designer clothes lol
While I'm not particularly fond of the small dogs and/or designer mutts, my issue is more with the owners of these cute little pieces of $*&!. If I was to allow my GSD run around in wild abandon the same way as those 'cute little things' the police would be at my door the same afternoon. It seems a week doesn't go by I don't come back home with the same kind of story. I'm working the dog against distractions and one of those 'cute little things' comes running up off leash, the owner is calling from about 150 yards away like the dog will actually learn a recall from repetition of 'come', so now we've got this yippy stupid dog running around our feet. I'm barely holding my dog off with commands. She's looking at this thing like its food. And finally the owner shows up, literally chases down the dog and happily tells me 'what a dear the animal is'. I just as happily tell the owner the next time I'll let my dog go.
Dear Abby, people pick their dogs up and avoid me and my GSD completely. Do you think it's because I don't bathe?
If my dog isn't learning, I'm doing something wrong.

As everyone who regularly posts here knows, small dogs need training exactly as much as big ones do. It's no favor to the dog to skip the training just because they don't have big dangerous teeth or big poops.
I just thank the stars that the people being dragged down the street by a 12-pound toy breed at least did not choose a big dog.
I feel sorry for the small dogs who are baring their tiny teeth and barking their little heads off, trying to take over the pack-leader position by default because the human won't.
Mine is a mutt. at least me older one is. And i would not trade her for anything. But it is not going to breed she is fixed and my pure pit will be to at four month. But I am proud and I did not pay a thing for her got her out of the city pound at 4 weeks old. I saved her life and she is grateful for it every day. And my neighbor has her bother they are both great dogs. The thing is that some people want pets but can't pay 400/500 dollars for a pup and take care of them. so they choose a mix breed thats why I did it. I choose mix and able to do all the things for her.
It's ashame small dog owners don't take the time to do any obedience or set any rules out for them. No one wants to be around someones little spoiled brat that only the owner can tolerate and thinks it's cute behaviour. Little dogs unfortunatly get the reputation of being yappy, bad mannered and annoying. Have to say a well behaved small breed dog is rare.

Terra, can you please make your signature photo smaller? There are several photos that make some members scroll to read messages that are widened by the signature photos.
You're not being picked on; I'm looking for the other three or four, but can't remember who they are at the moment. So it will have to wait until I stumble on them again. :>
I didn't know, and I'm sure many don't realize, because of computer (or maybe browser ... I don't know) differences.

Heck yeah! I have adopted mutts too!
I don't create more, that's for sure. But I'm 100% for adopting a mixed breed shelter dog for a pet and not causing more of them (mixed breed shelter dogs) to be created..... when millions of them enter shelters every year, most never to find a permanent home.
Sorry, I've been trying with no luck to make this photo smaller, it says it's avatar size on my photo program but i guess It's not working on this site. I'll remove it until I figure it out. Sorry guys
