I have a friend that recently became ill from Gluten product and it took a while for Doctors to figure out what it was, she was nauseous everyday and did not feel well, i'm thinking of not purchasing products with gluten in it too, if it damages organ on the long run for dogs what is it doing to us as well?
I am thinking of buying Gluten free products from here on..
Here is a list of the dog food recall. Funny that Iams and Eucanuba are on this list. HMMMMMMMMM thought they were an exclusive dog food company. Guess we have been right all along in telling people its trash dog food.
I remember a Rep. for Eukanuba, giving me a little pouch and saying that their kibble is above the rest and that their nutritiontists make sure the best products are in their kibbles etc..I love to refuse the bag and tell them I feed raw, they are always left with no words to say....
Louanne good for you I think that stuff is nothing but garbage..I cannot believe that they use it as a protein
On a side note FYI... http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20070320/royal_canin_070320/20070320?hub=Canada though Royal Canin is not affected by the current 'Menu' company food fiasco. Seems like other companies as well have had their incidents of bad food batches. http://www.royalcanin.ca/recall_statement_en.php I feel real bad about the animals that were affected but you know I feel bad about the little people that are now going to be losing their jobs at 'Menu'. Most likely the people 'Menu' management that are ultimatly responsible will never get the slap that they deserve.
What ever way you look at it this incident hopefully will mean companies like 'Menu' that are responsible will pull up their socks and stop selling crap. Or more people will look at feeding raw. Whichever way the ball bounces now the animals will be better off for it. To bad that some people lost their animals to wake up the industry in the process. To bad as well that it is a monetary hiccup that made them wake up not genuine animal welfare concern.
Just saw breaking news on MSNBC the state of New York found rat poison in samples of recall dog food. The rat poison was found in the wheat used in the dog food. The wheat was imported from China into Canada.
A spokeswoman for the New York state Department of Agriculture and Markets said Friday that rodent poison was found in tainted pet food that killed several animals and sparked a nationwide recall.
A spokeswoman did not identifying the chemical or its source, beyond saying that it's rodent poison. State officials will be releasing laboratory findings later today. A news conference is expected at 1 p.m. EDT
ABC News reported that the chemical was aminopterin, which was on wheat imported from China. Various online medical sources indicate that aminopterin is also used in trials to treat leukemia.

Here's a quote:
"Spokeswoman Jessica Chittenden would not identify the chemical or its source beyond saying it was a rodent poison."
God damn...As if it isn't bad enough that there is poison in the food and it's taken this long to identify it, NOW they won't identify the chemical???!!!!
Cats and dogs CAN survive rat poisoning provided vets know what the chemical is and can start treatment immediately. This is outrageous.
