the breed seems to attract the worst of the worst, and fortunately for these pups, the best of the best as well!
this story made my day a little better, thanks!

still can't think of names...
Lucky 1 & Lucky 2 I'd call them both Lucky because that is what they are for having you in their life!

nooooo problem...
i love this breed....
i want an actual show/working APBT pup from a real breeder.....but until i have thousands of dollars for just the pup alone(plus a leerburg pup when they breed again), i will just rescue these!
plus, i just can not sit there while people treat animals like this. It makes me sick, angry and just plain mad.

totally OT, but most people selling any APBT pup for 'thousands' are total shams! LOL

Actually Kristin I have to disagree - there are good breeders out there with working APBTs and most pups will average $1-2K, part of this is to discourage people that think they want a throw away or fighting dog, and they have really long contracts.
I got to this a bit late.. Good for you Mallory! Adorable pups, its wonderful you have saved them

i try to avoid ultimatums and absolutes when talking dogs. there are a few people that i know and respect who charge over $1k for their dogs, but not many. that's why i said "most" people charging that much are either hoping to capitalize on a fad, or live off of their puppy sales.
unfortunately, the majority of pit/staf breeders AREN'T working breeders per say, they are simply people with a few dogs, maybe a few ribbons, and a web site looking to make a name for themselves, and a quick buck by selling $2k+ "PR" pups...
not trying to hijack the thread!!
mallory - i'm also in NC, over by raleigh - i just saw that you're in winston-salem in your profile!

yay for NC!!!!!
OK,not really, i really dislike this state, but that is really OT.
if the pup is pooping and eating, how worried should i be about a bloated tummy.
They were just wormed a few days ago, and weren't bloated until gorging on the food, so i think it just hasn't digested yet. What is the time for that, like 12 hours for kibble???

No matter the breed a majority of breeders are not breeding or producing working dogs. The price does not guarantee the dog but I would be suspicious of "quality working pups" being sold for $500 unless something was happening with the breeder or emergency etc. And for the most part raising puppies is not a "quick" buck and I do not hold it against any breeder that makes money off of the litters they produce.
As an aspiring future breeder of real working ABs any money that is profit from pups will go right back to my dogs in the purchase of food, supplies, vet, etc. I know quite a few breeders.. hmm now that I think of it most breeders I know or know of have pups over $1k, I know far fewer with pups under that. But I don't look at show or pet breeders my focus is working dogs.
Sorry Mallory When you get more pics of those cuties please post them in bios, they are adorable and I'm sure they will do well with you!

what is a good bedding?
they have been in a hard bottom crate their whole lives, and they need cushining for their poking out bones, btu they (obviously) aren't anywhere close to crate trained, and with this weather, i can't wash bedding all the time(my dryer is broken, so i have a clothesline....).
What will be soft enough for them, but easy to clean up.
I can't get those rubber cow mats yet, but i plan too for all the crates once i move, so something in the mean time.
