GSDs are natural herding dogs. It's not uncommon for herders to nip at the heels of people, other dogs, sheep, etc. as part of their normal drives.
I'm sorry, and I have no desire to sound confrontational or snooty, but I burst out laughing when I read this.
Christine, you've inadvertently placed yourself in the position of someone trying to explain first aid to brain surgeons.
I'm not saying that LB's 10,000 members are experts on working dogs (or large breeds), but there are many ... and some of 'em are right on this very thread.
I'd urge that you take a deep breath, read some of Ed's articles, and slow down.

Maisha,
Thank you. I am a bit ashamed of my outburst, but dogs are a passionate thing for me, as I am sure they are for most of us here.
Leerburg is excellent and Ed and Cindy's graciousness at sharing their knowledge for people to learn different and usually better methods is most important to me.
I apologize to the board pretty much as a whole as well as to the Mods, Ed and Cindy for allowing myself to go to a level that I did not need to go to.
I am in total support of anyone here wanting to gain information in order for them to have the "dog of their dreams".
Novice or Expert, you have to start somewhere and with the correct attitude it is attainable. I also commend people who realize that they may not be ready or that they may need a dog with lower drives.

I am in total support of anyone here wanting to...
I TOTALLY thought that sentence was going to read "anyone here wanting to ban me."

Geesh, it would probably be unanimous ( ) so I would never offer that up.....but I have been expecting an ED-O-GRAM to be honest.....

No way! I for one really value your experience and how freely you share it. The humor is good, too
.....but I have been expecting an ED-O-GRAM to be honest.....
I really doubt any WOE is in your future, Carol. Now Christine maybe...

OK, so while we're on the topic,(i'll just call it the 'Carol appreciation bandwagon') here's what I really appreciate about your posts (in addition to the spot on advice that you've always given me):
You freely bring your dog training issues to this forum.
It's encouraging to read that someone as experienced as you still can have dog training questions,(hope that comes across the way I intend)
It is a reminder to me that each dog is an individual, and that there is always something to be learning, even for the most experienced handler.
I enjoy reading about Ember and the progress that you and she are making. Keep those pictures coming!

OK, I erased my post to Christine an hour ago and now I wish I hadn't so here it is (more or less):
Christine, I noticed your comment to Carol about not knowing how much experience she has, yada, yada. Carol can always be counted on to help anyone in need of her expertise. I suggest you use the search function and type in her name. You'll find she has exhaustive experience. Or you could start with the dogs in her signature....that should give you a clue!

I couldn't agree more. There is always something more to learn and Carol manages to be intelligent, talented, experienced, helpful...and yet still a human being.
Go Carol! (insert pom-poms here!)

Thats an outburst??? What capitalizing ugh? You're pretty darn nice Carol. I'll admit to reading threads to see what you think about something. Can't imagine you'll be getting an Ed'o'gram for anything you said.
