Just wanted to add that when you feel like throwing in the towel on the damned fleas, remember that a whole lot of "Leerburgers" are rooting for you!
I've fought that battle, long and hard, and I won (with eternal vigilance, of course). You can too.
IME, fleas are just horrible for a dog with any derm issue, even if the initial issue wasn't directly flea-related.

I think the linoleum is not an issue for fleas.
Yay! One spot!

I don't love Vetalog injections, but once won't hurt him. They are very strong and stays in the system a long time. I have to be really really desperate to give into an injection of steroid. For most cases mild oral works fine and doesn't stay in the system for 3 or 4 weeks. Vets like them because it's a miracle and the client sees big results!
Our derma vet does not give them at all, she uses oral when necessary.

Didn't know if the little b*%stards would jump off comin through the back door and hang out there or not... Will focus on the carpet, crate, and backyard!
Ok, good to know on the Vetalog. Too bad I didn't know before. So if he suggests it in the future, what are the other options I can suggest?

You sound like me.
I have seen (and joined in) a thread here about ways to murder them individually until the general vacuuming and laundering and everything start to kick in.
Bowls of water with a drop of dish soap so the flea drowns instead of skating across the surface and escaping when you get one off the dog and into the water .... you know : tricks of the flea-hater
trade.
ETA
Yes, they look for a place to hide (rather than linoleum floors) .... carpet, rug, bed, couch, blanket, grass, shrubbery, hair, etc.
I've read that one female flea can have 500 babies (eggs). And the eggs take 12 days to hatch, so even after you've killed off the adults, you know that there's a new cycle coming. That's why we were saying earlier that this isn't one round.
But the worst flea infestation in my house ever was wiped out in a little over a month.
Now one flea sends me into kill mode.

Injections are more likely to cause side effects and less manageable if they do. Using oral cortisone sparingly, maybe with antihistamines, gives you and the vet much more control.
Steroids in every form are used at the lowest possible effective dose for the shortest time possible, and they are carefully weaned off after a protocol of any length.
Low-dose oral can always be increased if needed. A shot can't be taken back, regardless of side effects observed after injection. Injections, IMO (and I'm not a health professional) are the last resort, not the go-to first thing to do.
At the very least, IMO, steroid injections are something to have a talk about before doing. I would want to discuss why not oral, what is driving the need for this step, etc.
