Gene, now let me clarify. I don't want to take Stark from you...I want to allow Stark the best possible chance at finding a permanent home. He will have it made with me until that happens...and stranger things have happened than me keeping a dog I'd said I'd never keep, lol. I told your wife to just let me know when and I can pick him up at O'Hare. Glad to hear you're not really going to euth him...but isn't it still a possibility if he ends up in a shelter and gets a little edgy? That's why I used to foster; some dogs just don't do well in that environment, and their chances of being adopted dwindle with each passing day.
Please send me whatever other info you have on him...pedigree, etc. I'm curious. He's gorgeous.

Thanks for taking this boy Jenni, I know you have the love of the breed and the knowledge to assess him and do any remedial training that might be needed so that he can find his forever home....
Ok, let me clarify this for you people. My wife's post on the other board (germanshepherds.com) was just a sarcastic remark to the person who suggested we euthanize Stark. When I said we will NOT euthanize him, I meant it.
Thank God! This was bothering me all of last night. I'm glad it was a misunderstanding. I'll admit, when I read the other board's posts, it did seem like she was serious about euthanizing him.
There's GOT to be a place for him. His age may make him harder to place, in combination with his issues, but he's certainly not a lost cause.
Jenni, I still hope you take him. Every time I think of him, I hear a clock ticking, and it would be great if that pressure was off.
We can definitely try and ship him to you. I think my wife sent you an email about this. I know that you want to allow Stark the best chance of finding a permanent home. That is why I'm ok with shipping him to you because we want the same thing for him. Plus knowing that you know the breed and work with them makes it even better. I would definitely want to do this instead of putting him in a shelter. About his aggressiveness towards other dogs - I think as long as he is properly introduced he'll be fine. I will send you his pedigree along with some other papers I have. We just have to figure out where/how to send him to you.
Wow!! That is great news guys!! I'm glad Jenni is helping you with this. It's really amazing how a web forum with lot's of good people can make things like this happen.
Good luck with everything. I was feeling so bad for this dog, being abandoned by its owners and all, but now that you're taking over I see a happy future for him.
Oh, this is getting embarrassing....Thanks for the nice words, everyone.
Looks like Mr.Stark is coming to Chi-town; I just have to work out the details w/the Altmans. I'll let everyone know what's going on with him when he gets here. I'm glad they've agreed to ship him, because I worry about a dog with even supposed "issues" in a shelter...especially his age.
FYI, I have not heard from the Altmans yet...I got a few emails and we were working out flight details, but as of this morning, I have not gotten a response. If someone knows something I don't, please enlighten me. I'm getting a little anxious.
