I would have to read the report Aaron. I don't know that he was the transporting officer. All I saw was that he put her in his car and read her the card. I imagine for ease of paperwork it's better to have just one person listed as the arresting officer.
I wonder if he was wearing his lapel microphone? I know they're becoming pretty standard issue in the city lately.

Deep sigh... What in the world makes good people even WANT to be police officers? That entire situation could have gotten so much worse so very quickly. It DID seem to take a long time for backup to get there, and I bet for the officer, it seemed like a life-time.

This is what I have been thinking about all along, how long it took for backup and how difficult it can be when you are the only cop on the scene? It truly could have gotten so much worse, so fast. I am glad that it did not.

I totally support the officer. I would expect to get punched in the face too if I was dumb enough to put my hands on a cop.
What disgusts me is the media blow-up. I changed the channel because I was ready to vomit at the tv when our local news started their "yet another instance of police brutality" BS. I can't be more disgusted at these people passing judgement on matters they don't know anything about while sitting on their lazy a**es watching tv. They just LOVE it when these things happen so they can run their disgusting mouths. If they think its so corrupt then they should sign up for enforcement. Right?
I hate the media.
(PS this was directed at the news people and not anyone here!)

You have an officer flying solo, dealing with two very uncooperative individuals, in a crowd of people that could have easily caused a much worse situation… where back up was left me wondering! With all that was going on, and the thoughts, I am sure, that officer had of what could go on, I feel he handled the situation the best he could. He had someone hovering over his shoulder in a ridiculous manner asking him questions, If this officer did not maintain the demeanor he used with the crowd, calmly which I thought, if he shouted at this man, like I wanted too, “Back the Blank off!” this situation could have easily escalated! He had to think about many things, including those behind him possibly disarming him! For those that thought his self defense methods were lacking, I would think that the entire situation might have hindered them!

Okay,
Brand new day.
I want to apologize to those here that don't like or will not tolerate racial slurs.
I'm sincerely sorry for allowing myself to be dragged into the slurry of foul language.
I'm ashamed to have found myself using the same derogatory and inflamatory words that some thoughtless wit felt were amusing.
I'm sorry all.
It won't happen again.

... Didn't bother me, just surprised me that you would post the video as I'm not sure doing so adhears to Leeburg's guidelines. But I'm sure you know better than me on that.
It's not OK to do this. It's not OK to embed any video --- never mind a violent scene from a movie here.
Anyone who has spent more than ten minutes here knows that and disregarded it.

TYVM, Connie, for unlocking this thread! The topic is quite interesting, and I hated it might end over an Animated GIF.
My biggest problem with the video (note: not the cop, I only saw what was recorded) was that a punch seems "un-police like." If he had tazed her, used pepper spray, or even whacked her knee with his PR-24, the public would have seen it more as law enforcement protocol than a fist to the nose.
I have a lot of LEO friends, my grandpa was sheriff of Avery county, and I've seen every episode of Cops (lol, as if this makes me an authority). There is one thing I have heard and seen so much I am pretty certain is real: there exists a percentage of women who seem to think a male cop isn't allowed to touch them. During an encounter, there exist a percentage of women who get wide eyes and say "Get your hands OFF me!" As if they believe a male LEO is not allowed to touch a perp if she is a woman. I really believe these gals both felt this way. Instead of DARE programs in schools, I'd rather my tax money go towards kids learning what their rights are.
