I may end up getting lessons but it's going from the same guy but it's going to be $30 a session plus gas to get there. It's a 20 mile drive. I have the time and want to. I just also want our dog to be 100 % the best he can be. I don't mind spending $1000 to get him trained. I also feel the training will be after we have made a large bond
You should check out the marker training and food dvds. They are an excellent way to start off with any dog, but for a puppy you will definitely be on the right track.
The guy does everything all the way to PPD training. I've talked to a ton of people today asking about him. He didn't even know I was looking into him. I want to get obedience and then have bite work done ect
Obedience you can do yourself. There's no reason to pay someone else for it.
He won't be ready to receive any sort of PPD training until he's 18 months old, if not 2 years old. Assuming that he's cut out for the work mentally and physically at that time. Most dogs are not.
I'd be really suspicious of someone claiming to be able to turn out a PPD in a short period of time.
There is a new video coming out about how to start a dog on bite work without a helper, I would check that out if I was interested in doing bite work with my dog. All of the Michael Ellis videos are really fantastic.
Plus, private training for protection is really, really expensive. Do what you can on your own. Some really good trainers require two sessions a week at a $100 or more an hour.
he's $30 for a session so it's not too bad I guess..
