Yep, I have a number of these around here...all different sizes from all my pups. LOL Last forever, adjustable fits & cheap! Most have been thru all 3 of my pups.
As far as a vet visit goes- bring a fresh stool sample with you. Ask for an Ova and Parasite check + Giaridia. This will be something they send off to a lab. Should cost around $15. (Also called and OP&G)

Connie,
Nick here.. We called the E vet that we took him to yesterday. They told us they put him on the Albon "just in case" parasites. were present. I don't know why they didn't give any real tests. I left there upset they didn't do more. I asked them to and the doctor didn't seem he was in real danger or anything. He said at the time he didn't need an IV.
I'm going to call our normal vet tomorrow. This poor kid needs major help at this point. I've never had a dog that looked like he was one of those alley dogs you find that is emaciated. His hips and rips showing ect. I also emailed my breeder I was terrified the dog may die if he doesn't start eating and pooping normally. He's drinking lots of water and eating well still so hopefully he will be fine and we can see our doctor and FIX him totally some how. I had put aside funds for e vet just in case but I didn't think I'd need them right off the bat.
OK, number one, "terrified" is out. Every overblown emotional reaction transmits itself to a stressed pup (and this pup is physically stressed, too).
So we will set aside "terrified" and move to "call the regular vet and get the puppy in tomorrow."
I don't care for that E-vet thing either, but I would move on and take a positive step. First thing Monday.

It happens.
BTW, the collars everyone mentioned .... I too have them all over the house, because they are so inexpensive and it's so simple to just move up to the next size. I'd measure him and I'd get the current size and the next one. It'll be no time at all before you need the next one.

Yes, I too would have the freshest stool sample possible along with me.
Maybe the negativity that is sometimes shown on here why people walk away train there dog and don't look back. I'm trying my hardest to work with you guys because some of you really want to help. I've been trying my hardest to respond.
You NEED to respond to questions and concerns. You were upset that I said you added TMI to a post, but did nothing to address that concern about the pup being around screaming kids - a very real issue that needs to be dealt with. High energy puppies/dogs and screaming kids do not mix. This was echoed by other members. Part of your training time NEEDS to be spent teaching your children to be calm around the pup.
You cannot blame people here for negativity. About 85% of the posts directed at you have been positive and very helpful. Then you have the same issue all over again or do something you've been warned against Wouldn't you find something like this a bit irritating if you were trying to help/instruct someone?

I really like the help I am getting and I really do care that you care enough about my dog to help.
Then you need to respond in a constructive manner about your pup. Even in this post there was no real information or responses to concerns. There was an affirmation that you care about this pup, some frustrations, and a correction about firearms. We don't need to hear this. We need to hear things like the puppy's age, weight, how you are addressing the screaming kids (which could be stressing him and contributing to his loose stools).

People sometimes get the wrong training as I have in the past. I can't help the past but I can try my darnest to do my best. All I can do is ask for help on here and hope I get a positive response.
You will get positive response as you answer straight forward questions, follow advice and stay away from questions/info that doesn't pertain.
I'm a bit concerned that you say that you are breaking out in hives over this. this is telling me that you have a lot of nervous energy that is affecting your puppy. You need to deal with this before you can train a puppy. Maybe you need to get out and take a 2 mile run or something to get rid of your nervous energy so it doesn't affect your pup.
Re: collars - any walmart/menards/feed store/pet store has basic 3/4 inch wide adjustable (10"-16" or so)snap lock collars. They can be adjusted larger as the pup grows.

Good post.
I know from PM that Nick and Heather plan to call the vet first thing tomorrow and get the puppy in to see him .... so at least (step one) the puppy can be placed on a path to better physical health.
I'm thinking and hoping that this will lead to a calmer owner who takes a deep breath and addresses the other issues.
