Well, of course they have a common ancestor. Wolves aren't extinct. They didn't "become" dogs. 40 sub-species of Canis lupus exist. They are all wolves, and they all came from ancestor wolves. It would be like theorizing that Australians and Americans probably have a common ancestor.
Regardless of the success of wolf-dog crosses as pets (which is a terrible idea), it's not a matter of opinion that dogs are the same species as wolves. They are. This isn't a political or ethical distinction. It's biological. Domestic dogs, dingoes, and 30-odd worldwide varieties of wolf are all the same species.
Nobody has ever said that domestic dogs behave exactly the same as wild wolves--any more than dingoes and arctic wolves behave exactly the same. They don't. Among dogs, livestock guardians and retrievers don't act the same either, but nobody would doubt they are the same species. I think we do dogs a disservice to not understand some of the key behaviors that all canids share. Dogs have learned a lot about paying attention to us primates. But they don't have the ability to act like primates. In order to understand them, we have to think like canids.

that logic, well I came from my mother but she is not extinct, bless her.
that is the idiotic fallacious argument kent hovind used to fly before he was sent to prison for fraud.
I get the same species can reproduce thing, no argument.
not sure how you approach it but when I train my dog to flashy heel I don't all of a sudden become bear grylles or shaun ellis.
micheal ellis is satisfactory for my needs, I don't know or care how foxes, dingoes, new guinea singing dogs, coyotes, jackals, dhole, African wild dogs, wolves or canis cedazoensi's behave.
in fact i fail to remember the section in micheal ellis heeling video where he presents a thesis on wolf behaviour as essential background information for teach a dog to heel pretty.
the way you have presented it I could just as validly say that wolves came from dogs or at least a proto dog.
sue me, i am not this guy in my backyard doing pretty heeling with my dog.

No, you're the guy arguing that dogs don't think of a crate as a den--and throwing sarcasm at those who know better.

actually I think I am the guy that said this, but admittedly my mind is slipping, it could have been someone else I thought was me;
I agree that crate training is an essential skill for a dog to know, just like standing for a medical exam, getting a shot, nail trimming etc, etc.

I'm not interested in arguing with you and regret spending my time today conversing with you. I'm only interested that Fabio and others who may read this thread not follow the advice you started this sidetrack with: that crates are a fad, and he should confine his puppy in a bedroom. That's not good advice. And if you're going to offer it, you should be prepared to put up with disagreement.
What I should have done is ignore you. That's what works with my dogs when they are impertinent.

People have many different view about most everything.
Disagreeing and discussing those different views can be healthy or it can become more of a "Your wrong and I'm right" thing.
Hopefully this isn't going in that direction.
I suspect the op doesn't need to determine if his dog has wolf ancestry from 20 or 30,000 yrs ago.

fabio , buon natale felice anno nuovo . . .
have you been to visit the litter yet ?
does the breeder have an idea of which puppy you are going to get ?
do you have some possible names in mind ?
on both my last dogs , i had the dogs' name already selected . i told the breeder so she could start using it as soon as she had my pup picked . it may have made no difference , but i like to think it helped imprint the dogs' name very early in his life . i also think it aided the transition from his first family to mine , as he was being called something he was already familiar with .

I will go near 20 january to see pups, we picked "kira" as name.
Thanks for all the help.
Parvovirus
If im correct, before I take the pup , she get 2 shots and then I've to do another shot fo parvo at 3 months old right ?
During that period, avoid dog parks, just socialize pup with people instead of dogs till is parvo vaccinated. I can just let my pup meet my friend and his adult calm dog I think. That dog doestn get vaccines anymore but I think its safe anyway ?
Correct ?
