Not to worry you but... yikes, I hope the officer doesn't call him and get a hold of him and say, "I think you have a stolen dog, would you be so kind as to tell me where you are so I can come and look at him?" (Not that I think cops are that stupid, but you did say the officer was going to phone him and I sure as heck wouldn't want the cops calling me if I had stolen property.) Maybe you have a better idea of what the cops' plans are. And I hope you can charge the ba$tard who took him.
Can't the cops just find out the address where the phone number is registered to and go there?
I'm really worried about your dog and hope everything works out!! I really really want you to get him back.

I'm pretty sure he is just calling to get a location or say that he wants to talk face to face, he seemed smart enough not to tip the guy off I am sure he knows people tend to hide things. Or just to say they have had a complaint about the dog or something etc. I also hope the guy does not get tipped off but I have faith for now that everything will be fine.

I'm sure it will, too. I think we're all getting paranoid now because we feel like he might be SO CLOSE! I sure hope this guy doesn't have any other business to attend to besides Cajun. I'd hate to have to go to Oregon and have a chat with him.
Inquiring minds want to KNOW!
Seriously, he sounds like a great cop. You lucked out big time w/this guy from what it sounds like. He seems to understand what this dog means to you.

Jennifer -- my heart goes out to you missing Cajun and wondering about his disappearance for so long now. I sincerely hope and pray that you can post some great news SOON! I can imagine what relief he will feel seeing you and hearing you call his name.
Wonderful pictures of him in your signature.

Thanks Jenni and Katie! Yes I can't wait. I really think it might be him as I have gone all over this city looking for him and I have relatives and friends all over and the general consensus is that there are not many dogs that look like Cajun and they identified his face/head markings and that tail tip. It is is not him I will just keep trying. I can't stop trying now.
I personally like cops, they have saved my butt too many times to count! I also sort of dated a few. Anyways, I have a lot of respect for them and only ever been helped out. This guy didn't know that American Bulldogs were a different breed than pits or staffys, which doesn't surprise me. He didn't know anything about canine DNA genotyping or any of that so I printed him out info on that and just basically said it is quite common, lots of people think they are all the same dog.
I basically told him how much Cajun would have been worth if I had tried to sell him when I still had him. He sort of looked at me like "Huh? A dog can be worth that much?" (though he didn't say anything)
I'm sure he does have other things to do but he did take me seriously and wrote down everything I said about identifying marks and he picked some of the pictures from my pile to help him identify Cajun.

Is there any reason you cannot go along? I don't know much about the logistics of this cop's duties for this case...
I do know, if he were there with you, and the dog IS Cajun, there will be ZERO denying that Cajun is your dog. (like was mentioned earlier).
My first doggie went missing in Seattle WA for 5 days. Our re-union was much like was described earlier...unlike anything I'd ever seen with her...
WHY IS IT TAKING SO LONG??? I HOPE NO NEWS GOOD NEWS!!!!!

I imagine if there is any doubt I will be allowed to go to the place and see for myself. For now it is just not knowing where the guy is and where the dog is and that from the cops POV it is easier to handle one person if something goes bad than two people fighting over a dog. With the amount of pictures and info he has, and the indentifying marks Cajun has and the ability to do a DNA test, I don't mind the cop making the initial decision.

As hard as it may be to not be there during the initial contact with this guy, I think it is wise to let the officer handle the confrontation.
Jennifer seems confident in the officer and has given him all the info, pictures, etc he needs to make a sound judgement as to whether this is Cajun or not. From what Jennifer has posted I bet if this officer has any reasonable belief it's Cajun he'll seize the dog.

Yes I am confident the officer will make the right decision, either seizing the dog, allowing me to decide if it is Cajun, do the DNA test, etc. He has pictures showing really good detail of the unique black spots Cajun had on both sides and top of his muzzle which those alone are good ID marks, plus the underbite and tail etc.
Ah. It's just a waiting game now. SIGH!!
