The club will help you - that is the whole purpose. No need to feel "silly" - everyone has to walk before they run!

Exactly Barbara! The other thing I learned was that, everything I knew (or thought) had to be undone and relearned for this training. Ok not everything, but I had to make the changes and it can be challenging to change. Hope that make sense at least to someone

I talked to brush Creek tonight...i explained my needs and she told me my options. It will work out great when im ready. She used to Breed working lines only before i knew her and she said there was too many dogs being sent back because her clients could not control the dogs. I will be doing Schutzhund as a hobby and I guess I'm not after that hardcore dog in this part of my life. Im very new to this and im going to try and get a dog that i will be able to control a little better for this go around. Once I get this down and when we decide to move to the country(5-7 years prob) i will then go for that hardcore dog that most of you guys have. If i get my next dog titled, then great. I will make that my goal and hopefully go all the way to sch 3. It will def be a bumpy road and lots of trial and error but it will be good for me, the dog, and the whole family. Starting today i didnt know all the title terminology beside the dogs name on the pedigree. I researched it and found out what all them meant. I had no idea what IPO, AD, etc meant ....yeah......a true newbie....with thousands of questions. I have sent prob over 50 emails this week to the owner of brush creek. She has reponded every time. And all of those questions have came from your help. She is very understanding and im very confident that she will get me a pup that will fit me perfectly. And if it doesnt work out with her, then thats fine. Im still going to check out other breeders after i get some input from the club and see what they recommend for me.
Another question: Anyone ever seen a GSD that isnt crazy about swimming? My dog really fights it. But its something that I really need to do with her for her Hip dysplasia and to build some lean muscle to help her out. We went again tonight. This time i didnt have her wearing her pinch collar. It was embarrasing. She was wanting out of dodge. Yesterday she wore her pinch collar and did so much better. I just though she was over that pulling thing....Man was i wrong. We loaded up very quickly this evening.

When i first started training Meeka(my female GSD). I work shift work, 14 days a month...split up. Well i would have things going well. Then the next day, nothing at all...i could not figure out what was going on. I finally started seeing how my wife was interacting with her. Lets just say we was not on the same page at all. She has a really hard time understanding that this is for the best. Like meeka not being on the couch, or in bed with her. The hair should prove that. we still have a few problems and im still learning how she should ineract with her. Meeka doesnt listen to her near as well as me...is this normal? We have a shitzu also. There used to be the normal fight once or twice a month, Since all the toys have been put up and the bed and couch thing...not one fight. i had no idea that the couch or bed could be a territorial thing until learning it through this site. She was always corrected immedietley....
One more problem- we just moved into this house last year. A chow lives next door. We have caught our neighbor spraying Meeka twice with the water hose teasing her. Well Meeka hates her now. I mean it is to the point that if that lady is outside, Meeka lets us know. She has threatned us with the cops and everything, but i was told by a friend that is a cop...that its her own fault. Is there anything i can do to control her over my neighbor? She isnt like that with any of my other neighbors. Just her. This lady thinks that she is a mean dog, when in fact she isnt. Also Meeka had to stay at the vet for 3 days becuase she couldnt drink or eat anything and keep it down. The neighbor was always throwing milkbones to her to try and rekindle her relationship with my dog. Didnt work. I really think she gave my dog something to try and put her down. The vet said it was something she ate that she shoudlnt of.she had an IV in for 3 days...it was the worst thing ever. Im not trying to blame her but it made me pretty suspious.. Now meeka always sleeps inside at night and never stays outside when im not home.....here i go rambling on again...lol

Good! That's your best/most realistic option for this situation.
Keep up the research!

Thanks Jeremy, yes, that is Falcon.
In regard to both the situation with your dog not wanting to get in the water AND the neighbor, Marker Training will help both situations. It will take a little time and patience to get her over the feeling she might have been forced in the water, but I believe it can be done. You could start at home just working on her putting her foot in low pan of water (as an example) and comfortable getting her feet wet, maybe a kiddie pool next, then the lake. ?? It ALL has to be positive and fun for her (and you!)
I'm not going to go into how ticked I'd be if someone sprayed my dog with water (assuming they weren't being bitten or attacked), but the lady next door is a witch. With that said, you could simply use basic obedience with her and work outside when the witch is also out (if possible). Start at the other side of the yard if possible and give her something fun to do. Then move closer. Yummy treats, fun, praise, etc... Let her figure out that fun stuff happens when the witch is outside. This might also let the witch see that your dog is smart, friendly, etc.. If not, teach the dog a stare-down and deep growl to be used on command.... tee hee.
Perhaps Leih, who has a lot more marker experience than do I will see this post and give her input on if there is a better way to use marker training for these situations.

My vote is for taking your current dog to schutzhund, and trying to train her.
If anything, you'll learn what you don't want in a dog, but she might surprise you.
Either way, you'll have fun. You can put a BH and all the OB and TR titles on her, regardless of whether she can do the bitework.
