Bob that's great i will check it out i showed a couple of times at tom rose's club don't remember the club name. fun times. was there with Ken White. i got a high sch1 and my picture in the little dvg mag that thing was small
( Bob the dog i showed was bred very well on both sides he made it to sch 2 that was enough. anymore would not have been unfair to the dog ..
i don't want to use it. i don't like all the yes, yes, yes it's not me, can't do it. just because someone doesn't use marker training doesn't mean they're a dog beater i probably use food/ praise as much as anyone. the deal with my pup once again i was going to try to train her with MT with no leash corrections . i corrected her with lite tug on the leash she knew what sit means i probably left out a lot of details due to typing skills. . as far as your dogs. they don't look like they need training i like the terrier
I agree 100% about the dog beaters having nothing to do with "NOT" using markers. Unfortunately there are a lot of ....fanatics within the purely positive crowd.
Correction training is like anything else. When done properly it gets excellent results and corrections will always be in my tool box if needed.....just haven't needed them in training for a few years.
Tom's club is about half an hour from me.
We also have Eric Beasly's club about 45 mins.
Mid Rivers is about 20 mins.
Lots to choose from in this area. Everything from no correction clubs to fry their ass and anything in between.
Kelly that's great i was in church local club trains on sunday can't make it. very dog dogs from that club at least 2 competed in Europe.(mal's no DS.. lol just kidding) the dutch shepherd that we just trained received a bullet proof vest from a k9 guy who is retiring he's big look's like he could stop bullets without one lucky the vest fit.
Bob i'm sure he wont admit to it, the first time i saw eric B pick up a sleeve he put it on the wrong arm (lol) he's came a long way his own club? that's to bad about the fry'um club. that's not dog training.
steve or anyone for that matter, send me a pm i give you my number we can discuss dog training on the phone save's me the typing which is about 7 words a minute. and what's left out trying to post if i have posted this twice disregard my computer skills is one set below typing
Dear Steve: I understand completely what you are saying. But it looks to me that we aren't getting anywhere with him and he is as Anne is saying just trying to stir the pot. I do not know what he did with his dog, I wasn't there. But it is apparent he is not interested in learning about how others have had success with it. That is the sad part.
So, this is something he will have to learn down the road. It doesn't look like he is open to hearing from others or learning from others at this time.
So, it looks like to me we are all wasting our breath or our typing fingers since we have met with so much opposition.
Sharon

Even a dentist can talk a good game John. Put up a video of something. Show me.
OK, I'll present the opposing view here. I don't get from John's posts that he's really trying to stir the pot. I think he's fixed in his ways and not willing to put the effort into learning a new training method that requires thought and skill to implement.
Lol, I'm probabaly stirring harder then John ever thought to. The whole contradiction of dismissing anyone who hasnt titled a dog when its a simple management issue every dog owner in the world has faced and is qualified to discuss on this forum cracks me up.
I don't care how he wants to train his dog, maybe he'll win the USA Nationals with this one.
