Wow, its amazing that with that huge bottle of Vodka that must be stuck in your mouth, you still have so much room for Ed's rear. Quite a talent.

Apparently. Not exactly sure why you're being negative about Dutch Shepherds all of a sudden, on a thread about fear biters, and handler aggression.
It's not about "fear biters", or handler aggression.
It's about the handlers, or lack their of
knowing what to train for what
& dutch shepherds, if I owned one I would trade it in On a GSD
Hey, Theresa, you are not only WAY out of line with your comments, but you aren't even hitting on the thread topic.
I suggest you log off. Now.

Hee Hee! I think we'll be OK.....a**hole. I'm done, promise!
And I completely agree that fear biters can be brought out in the right (wrong) situation, and that good dogs can learn the behavior if it has the desired reaction. There are some, like Tanner, who probably should have become fear biters but just didn't have it in them. Thank goodness!

Wow, this sure took a turn. What a shame. So completely uncalled for. If she’s got an opinion you’d think she might be able to state it with some substance and without the insults.
Interestingly enough, I understand that even some Sch 3 dogs might not "out", with 3 commands. Let's just hope they're not latched onto a hand when they decide to blow off that command.
I saw that just this past weekend. SchH2 dog, very very nice girl. Didn't out, with 3 commands given at a distance. Handler had to come to the dogs side to out her. Normally SPITS the sleeve on the out. This is a dog with no handler aggression, no fear issues. Just didn't want to out.
And Kelly, I think that’s so interesting about your experience this weekend. Me and my rose colored glasses, watching these posted videos with the incredibly trained dogs... a higher titled one, not “outing” on command had just not entered my thought process.
But yes, they are dogs, not programmed machines and we are humans, subject to good days and some not so good. My glasses have cleared.
Oh and Sir Titled Koe just rocks!!! I hope he's enjoying a life of luxury after his outstanding accomplishment.

Yes, not sure what warranted the outburst against Koening. I am his fan and I think he is great.
On a totally different note (nothing to do with DS or Mr.Koenig). I think Handler Aggression is acceptable. I don't mean that getting bitten is OK, but atleast you understand where the dog is coming from and you can work towards a solution.

(I know really, who'd have the audacity to attack KOENIG?! ) LOL.
CJ, in talking with another handler, I guess this dog does have some fear issues, but I don't think it's Fear Aggression. The dog has been trained with drive-compulsion-drive, and it's resulted in a dog who (apparently) can't out w/o some pressure. In her defense, it was also just a weird day. All kinds of dogs were having issues (like Koe's bellycrawling- it's never been THAT bad)
CJ said " But yes, they are dogs, not programmed machines and we are humans, subject to good days and some not so good. My glasses have cleared." A very good point was made crystal clear to me after the trial. You've got what you've trained for. Nothing you do on trial day is going to change it. You're dog is going to do what it's going to do, and you're gonna giggle and sigh, or cry. Either way, still can't do anything about it. lol.
