Hi,
I am new to this board and feel privilaged. I typed in natural pepper spray and found this forum. I have a 15 year old shepard chow mix named Perris, a 5 year old american staffordshire named Affir and a shiba inu/shepard mix named Sheela, all rescues, Perris was always the "alpha" Affi always beta, very submissive and knew sheela was the dominate one, never knew how much until she had a fang lodged in her tiny legs after Affi Perris and Sheela fouhgt over a turkey bone. $500 at the Werbers office x rays and all, I guess my question is, is it okay to use the pepper spray I just got in the mail today if I can't break up three dogs?
You need to keep the pepper spray for yourself and change the way you live with these dogs.
The dogs that fought should NOT be back together. Period. It doesn't mean you have to get rid of the dog, but you must change the way you live with them.
If you are not willing to seperate, crate, and supervise, find one a new home.
I first will tell you that I have rehabilitated many rescue dogs with aggression and severe behavior problems and never had a fight break out in a pack of aggressive dogs.
Allowing three dogs (a pack) to be loose and uncontrolled to the point of aggression and injury is negligent and irresponsible. You have 3 dogs of breeds that are notorious for aggression, two of which are breed mixes which are notorious for unstable temperament and the other of a breed that was developed for aggression towards other dogs and tenacity when fighting with other dogs.
Pepper spray will only infuriate your amstaff causing more intense fighting, but respect for a leader and proper control and groundwork will prevent all fighting.
Giving one up will not solve your problems. Structure and balanced, fair training with solve your problems.
