I just spent a month in Brazil training 28 EOD handlers in preparation for the 2007 Pan Am Games. I came across an interesting phenomenon in that a number of the dogs seemed to have problems with one specific odor, even though extensive imprinting was done. Has anyone ever run into a situation where for some reason a particular odor is either difficult for the dog to detect, or he doesn't recognize it and react with the same intensity as the other odors? The odor involved was Tovex. I found we had this same situation with numerous dogs and we had to put extra effort into imprinting on this one particular product.
