Lately my dog started crying and wynig <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> when ever myself and my wife comes back from work or in the morning when we say hello to him is this normal? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
It is getting a bit irretating can this be stopped - he is only 4months old.
It's normal but it is an irritating, attention seeking behavior. I've found that it's best to totally ignore a pup is s/he does this crying/whining behavior. That means absolutely no attention including looking at the pup until it's quiet. Then praising the quiet and giving attention.
I probably should've warned you that it might get worse before it gets better especially if the behavior has worked (gotten him attention, even negative) up till now. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
When I get home at night, I come home, I uncrate my boy, he gets super excited n grabs a bone n runs circles around me making happy whining noises jumping up on me n being all kindsa happy that daddy's back. I run around with him n play, then sit down at the computer and check my email n he chills out or lays down somewhere to chew on the bone he was running around with. He always has to have something in his mouth when he's excited, if it's not a bone or a toy, he's gonna be mouthy on my arm or leg or clothing. If he needs to go outside to potty really bad then he'll whine also. Is this what you're talking about? Or does your dog whine more often than that? If that's all your dog is doing, then I don't see a problem with it, dogs whine when they're excited, why kill the excitement of daddy being home? If he doesn't whine I know I wasn't gone that long.
You can beat the dog every time you see it, that way it will just avoid you when you come home or when you say it's name.
Gets rid of those normal, but pesky, dog sounds that pups make.
And if you think that's good advice, I also sell worm farms in Canada that you'd probably be very interested in. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
My lady cries when I come home and gets all jumpy and wiggly. I say phooey - Sitz and only give her attention after she is earns it by sitting quietly. After she sits quietly I say okay and give her the attention she desires, at that point I don’t care if she whines or cries which she usually does when I love on her after being gone. I just let her know that she has to do something for me before I will do something for her. About 60% of the time now she greets me at the door in a wiggly butt scootin quiet sit. Her attempt at restraint is so adorable. So she’s learning.
