Our GSD bitch is 5 1/2 months old. She started with hide and seek games from nearly day one (8 weeks) and has progressed amazingly well with her tracking. One of the areas where we track has sandstone creek beds, hills and small crevices/canyons and often deep leaves. Up to this point, she has worked with nose nearly on the ground, often touching it to the ground every few steps, especially when on the sandstone or bare dirt. Since she lost a handful of baby teeth and started cutting adult teeth about ten days ago, she has started wind-scenting more. She still stays right on the track, moving pretty fast, but only occasionally putting her nose to the ground, mainly at turns or circling around trees, etc. Is is common for a pup to "change it's style" when teething? Should I try to get her nose back on the ground or see if this is just a phase? She will be competing in Schutzhund.
