I still cry at the drop of a hat about dogs of mine who've been gone for decades <:-( I can't even say the words
"Rainbow Bridge" without choking up, so my heart goes out to anyone who loses a pet!

I know! I started bawling when I read the "rainbow-bridge" poster at my vet's office. <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> It was embarrasing because I was there with a crate full of lively pups for exams so it seemed really innapropriate. But it reminded me of my old friends. I think I have a harder time loosing dogs than relatives <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

I think it's something about the 24/7 nature of our relationships with our dogs. My dogs are by my side pretty much constantly. That kind of loss is profound indeed........ aside from the "clean" nature of the affection: no complications with resentment, envy, old hurts, all the normal human baggage........
