i would mix some whole raw egg in with whatever bland food you give him (soft boiled rice in chicken broth is good, as is plain unsweetened yogurt) as it is quick protien and nutrition.
do be careful about feeding just before a long car trip. we got a pup once who was fed just before we picked her up. she got car sick, and for the next 11 years she threw up whenever you put her in a car!
All good suggestions for feeding your pup after he arrives, but the first thing I would give him is some plain old pedialyte. Let his tummy settle with that for a while before you give him any solid food.
I will Look in pharmacy.. I know it is for runs and to calm the stomach..do you have a specific name? I know only pepto.. I will se if I can find something on the net...
BTW he is up in the air... He torn the vet's jacket and chowed up his slippers.... kind of wondering I should have gotten a little yorky
well I will post some picks of him later... I got about 5 of them now, but still from Europe. I think I have to be on one of them as well...
Thank you soooo much..
I am wors than an expecting mom...
pedialyte is an electrolyte solution for infants. it helps speed rehydration and restores electrolytic balance. it's like a sports drink, basically.
do not give pepto-bismol. it has aspirin in it which many dogs cannot handle.
is there a vet near the airport where you are picking him up? i would locate one just in case he seems at all sick when he arrives. dehydration is very risky in puppies and if he isn't drinking or seems lethargic, i'd take him to the closest vet and see about getting some IV fluids into him immediately.
well after 3 hours sitting at the airport and waitind since the flight was late... we got little Orin. He was happy and clean and the vet made sure he would be ok, they gave him some antibiotics. He is awesome, he was a little dehydrated, and today he has a little softer poop, but he is getting just started on "home food". well he looks great... Pictures comming soon...
Sorry i did not write sooner. I had little puppy "issues"
