I've been looking at the DVD's Leerburg offers for puppies and was wondering if the below selection is the ideal choice for my next personal protection puppy. The dog won't necesarily be a sport dog - if he is trained as a PPD and has the knowledge to participate in, say, ASR, then I may title him in ASR, but training my dog specifically to conform to the way ASR dogs are titled is not my primary training goal.
With that in mind - are these DVD's a good choice for me? Are there other DVD's you would reccomend adding to the list? Are any of these DVD's not worth me buying because perhaps relevent information is repeated in another DVD, or perhaps the DVD's contents are primarily common sense intended at a new-owner? My dog will definately not be a Schutzhund dog and will be trained on a bite suit as early as possible.
Your Puppy: 8 weeks to 8 months
Raising a Working Puppy
Bite Training for Puppies
Training Personal Protection Dogs
Bare in mind, I ALREADY own the FOLLOWING DVD's:
Building Drive & Focus
First Steps to Bite Training
First Steps to Defense
I already have a pretty good idea for how I'm going to train this puppy, what I'm more looking for is problem solving and minor details that I may not have thought about but will help me in the long run, as well as being able to watch other dogs at different stages of their training to give me some idnication on how my dog is progrssing. I like the fact that one of those DVD's, I forget which, shows video of selection testing so when I go to Holland to see which pup the breeder is reccomending to me, that I will have some idea of what I should be looking for in a 7-8 week old puppy.
