officer grubb, have you and your colleagues come up with any kind of management to reduce the--er--environmental/housekeeping impact of this practice? is the dog kept confined, or on any sort of special bedding?
You don't have to thank me I've seen this topic get really ugly on some of the fighting boards. That's how I learned breeding ethics, watching other people get lynched Those debates put even the raw feeding debates to shame
I used to think that people just bred dogs because they felt like it or their dogs were cool, or whatever. I never realized how much thought, testing and planning should go into it. When I was younger dogs were still pretty decent. I grew up and away from dogs only to come back 15 years later and they're in sad condition. I've also watched mauling story after mauling story and decided to look into it. Not all dogs that maul are in low lifes hands. Many have had decent upbringings only to maul someone later. I believe poor breeding is partly to blame for this. There was a website that had years worth of dog attacks on innocent people from around the world. Unfortunately I can't find the site, but it was clear that all maulings were much more than the result of incompetant handling.
I would love to see the English Mastiff breed fixed. I know that not everyone would want the old style mastiffs or temps. that I would prefer and really don't have too much of a problem with people breeding them for pets, if they are responsible with it. That is as long as breeders are testing some percentage of them hard and keeping them as they were Get real, I guess that's a bandog now Take care Alice!
