I am really interested to hear some of your opinions on THIS "training school" in my area. I see ads for this place on Animal Planet and I want to pull my hair out!
~~~~~~~"The name of this program is Mr. O’s One Day Comprehensive Training Program. Your dog will be completely trained in one day! You will drop your dog off at Mr. O’s Training Center at 9:30am, come back to pick your dog up at 6:30pm completely trained. You’ll see such a miraculous change from your dog’s bad behavior to good behavior that you will think that Mr. O switched your dog with another dog that looks like your dog! This miraculous change will stay with your dog the rest of his/her life"~~~~~~~~
QUOTE: "Mr. O uses a positive re-enforcement method that is achieved by the use of a choke collar and a leash. For those of you who have heard horror stories about the improper use of choke collars, let me assure you that there are absolutely no harsh or intimidating methods used at Mr. O’s. In fact Mr. O ‘s program has successfully cured dogs that have been abused and/or have had their spirit broken by dog owners or other dog trainers that have used harsh or inappropriate training methods.
When we say that our training is achieved by “The Miraculous Grace of God” we don’t just mean spiritually, but also physically."
Yes, I see now. It's God that yanks on the choke chain, not Mr. O.
I wouldn't fault anyone for mentioning their faith on a business website. But unless God comes in everyday to do their "training" for them, something's just not right.
First of all, to suggest that anyone can "completely train" any dog in a single day is absurd. Either they have a very lose definition of "completely train" or they're just full of it.
My favorite quote on the testimonials page... in reference to a 3 year old Siberian Husky.
"Our problems with her were she was extremely hyper..."
A hyper Siberian Husky? No way.
"So, Minx went to Mr. O and now she is so tremendously calm, it’s like she is a different dog."
The only way this could be true is if they did actually bring home a different dog. 3 years of hyper, uncontrollable behavior from a high strung, incredibly athletic breed, and a single day of "training" makes him "incredibly calm"...
".....if they did actually bring home a different dog...." made me burst out laughing -- I had to thank you for a big laugh in the middle of a baaaaad workday!
If I were to guess, I'd say the one day is a training session and sales presentation in one package. I'm sure follow on training is needed for your "special case" dog.
