I have purchased a wolf hybride about a month and half ago. His mother is 92% red wolf, silvertip tundra, mckeuzie timberwolf and 8% malmute. His father in 80% timberwolf and 20% malmute. He loves to play with my 2 yr old boxer/lab mix but is starting to bet real aggressive with us. He will sometimes bit hard then other times he bites real gentle. My old dog loves the idea of having a play mate around all the time but this puppy doesn't know when to quit. does anyone have any suggestions on training or things that we should watch for. This is the first wolf puppy we have raised.
Ummm, part of your problem is that he is a WOLF. Not to be rude, but seriously, you can't expect him to behave like a dog. Sure, he was probably easy as a pup, but as he grows up he's going to turn into...you guessed it...a wolf <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />. I'm afraid this probably isn't the best forum for you to be asking for sincere help regarding a wolf hybrid, as most of us are not of the school of thought that thinks this is a good idea. But, I do wish you good luck.
This animal is not a pet, it needs to be taken somewhere where it can be taken care of as a wild animal. I've worked with hybrids on a reserve and with wolves in two zoos. In most cases these animals are a serious risk to your own pets, yourselves, and your neighborhood.
You are seriously asking for trouble. This will never be a pet in the true sense of the word. You've made a huge mistake. This is a wild animal. Do you ever see those news stories about crazy people who have cougars or bobcats on their property? These nutballs get hurt and it makes the news? They have wild animals and now. . . .so do you.
