Jason...I have the Dogtra 1200 NC...I charge it ONCE/wk...I use it on average 24 hrs/wk (3 sessions of the collar being on and used intermittently at 6 hrs/session + extra usage)...never had the need for an alternative....
I have the Dogtra 1200 NCP - I recharge once a week. I don't use the pager alot except for when I need to get my dog's attention. All in all price-wise + performance-wise I see that the Dogtra collars are your best bet.
I have Dogtra 2000NCP and when I had a problem with the unit it was OUTSIDE of the warranty period. Dogtra said it was a defect and fixed it for free anyway. So they stand behind their products as well.
I have a Tri-tonic Waterfowl model for approx 5 or 6 years, with no problems except one. My retriever ate one of the knobs off the transmitter & they sent me a complete new unit at no charge. They said they had changed that model so that was the reason for the new one.
Fantastic!
