Hello all, this is my first time posting on this discussion board. I have a lot of different question that could probably be posted on different parts of this discussion board but thought I’d start here. I’ll start with a little background on my dog (Deuce). I have a 19 month old male GSD that we had neutered at 6 months. He is my first GSD and in retrospect, I am so glad my wife wouldn’t let me get a Labrador. I am embarrassed to say that I got him from a “backyard breeder”, but I couldn’t be happier that I have a healthy and beautiful dog. He is well mannered but lately he has been barking at most dogs we see when we go on walks. I am better informed now and will eventually get another one from a reputable breeder. The person who I got my dog from gave me his pedigree that is registered with United All Breed Registry, Inc. We did not register Deuce since we don’t plan on breeding him. I know this registry exist since I looked them up but has anyone ever heard of them? Since there is a lot of knowledge within this discussion board, I will attempt to attach his pedigree with the hopes that someone has heard of the lines on the pedigree and could tell me more about them (i.e. American vs. German, show vs. working). If the pedigree does not show up, I can email it whoever would like to check it out. A guy that I train with has heard of the Von Batu line which is on the sire’s side and thinks it is a show line. On the dam’s side I’ve been able to locate the Jerland line, which is in WI or MN (not sure), but couldn’t get anything else out of it. From what I’ve read on other people’s questions on pedigrees on this website, I thinking that the dam’s side is mostly American lines and the sire’s side might be German. Is this a good assumption? Any insight would be much appreciated.
About a year ago while searching the internet, I came across Schutzhund and since then, I have been obsessed with it. I finally found some guys to train with that have a lot of experience with training GSDs, Dutchies, and Mals in this sport. Being that I acquired Deuce as pet first and foremost, it wasn’t a big deal if he was interested in it or not. Luckily, he’s been doing well at tracking and obedience. He doesn’t seem too interested in protection and I’m cool with that. Could that be from being neutered or from his background (show lines vs. working lines)? He has high food drive and some prey drive but seems to loose focus quickly. I tried taking all his toys away so when he gets to play with them (during training) he is more interested in them but my wife keeps leaving them out for him. Are my thoughts on keeping them away from him correct for trying to transition from working food drive to prey drive. I’ve seen Ed’s video Focus, Drive, and Grip which was helpful but like I said, he looses focus quickly.
As I am new to this discussion board, please let me know if I should post this somewhere else on this board. Thanks.

Elliot,
The pedigree is not useful in your situation, period. The breeder could have made up every dog's name in the pedigree and that registry service would have accepted it, as long as he paid the cash.
Honestly, wondering about your dog's backgroup with that type of paperwork will lead you no where. He's basically an unpapered dog, leave it at that and concentrate on his good points.
