It seems to me that when it comes to dog trainers many consumers lose their every-day common sense that they would use with any other type of transaction. When asking a supposed expert to evaluate one's dog they should ask this person exactly what they will do to the dog in order to evaluate it. You can ask several trainers this same question. It's pretty basic and it's like anything else in life. What arey you going to do for me, how long is it going to take and what is it going to cost? Ask questions and then decide which trainer(s) you'll use. Remember this, it's YOUR dog and if you're paying them then they're working for you. And if they've got a holier than thou "I'm THEE Dogman" attitude then move on, quickly. You're not there to kiss any rears you're there to get a PROFESSIONAL evaluations of your dog. And when it's all said and done just remember this, it's still your dog and even if three supposed "experts" tell you you're dog can't do it does NOT mean the dog's can't do it. For example, I'm a huge college football fan. Do you have any idea how many NFL players got passed over by all the big name schools and ended up playing for a no-name college? Do you have any idea how many high school studs were supposed to be the next superstar and then didn't amount to much? And this is much more serious and involved than what we're talking about here; and they're wrong many, many times. Here's another quick example. The Dog Whisperer show has many problem dogs, some of whom were recommended to be put down because they were termed hopeless by another trainer(s). WRONG! In summary, get the input but don't take it as gospel because most of the time it ain't and, in fact, they might be 100% WRONG! Good luck and sorry for the dissertation.
