Forum members Betty Waldron and I will be hosting a two day seminar/ work shop with the noted German Helper Alex Beyer on Saint Patrick's Day weekend in Live Oak, Florida.
Alex is the chief helper for one of the largest SchH clubs in Germany and has been a helper at the Deutsche Meistershaft ( The DVG World Championship held each year in Germany ).
His English is excellent and no translator is needed.
Alex has the ability to test and bring out dogs in Protection to a degree rarely seen in the U.S., so this is a wonderful chance to see how far you can take your dog!
Food, drinks, and overnight camping are available at the site.
Please contact Betty or I for more information. Space is limited for dog/ handler teams so that Alex can concentrate fully on each dog.
We still have 2 ( two ) slots open for the seminar/ workshop this weekend with Alex Beyer.
We have a good mixture of both young and experienced dogs attending, so there should be good training for everyone!
Feel free to contact me via PM or through my website for directions or further information.
The seminar was a *big* success! We had nine handlers with 13 dogs total and we worked two long days under Alex's watchful eye ( he doesn't miss a thing.....*grumble* ) and the hot sun.
Alex is an excellent trainer and coach in addition to being a world-class helper and every dog ( and handler....sheesh, am I tired! ) was worked at a high level.
We had a nice mix of dogs ranging from a 13 week old puppy to SchH titled dogs and every handler commented on the amount of advancement that their dog's made at the seminar. And Alex taught all of many important handling tips to gain points at future trials, that was a very nice bonus.
We will definitely be hosting Alex again this fall for another seminar in our area.

Alex worked us hard and my head is still spinning with all the information. I had high expections and was very impressed.
Between Alex and Princess Weasel I recieved such a workout that when I collapsed into bed my toes hurt. Not my feet, but my toes.. Still haven't figured that one out
It was great watching the dogs improve within just a few minutes. A certain boy is heeling better then ever.
I even learned to depart the field in a different manner. I have to admit it is very intimadating to have a big german guy with a whip in his hand running after you yelling that you just undid all his hard work and to get back on the field so that you can start over.
I had a chance to work with Alex a couple of years ago when he came with Bernhard to do a seminar with Armin and throughly enjoyed working with him. Hopefully I can find him somewhere a bit closer with more notice next seminar.

You know, I pride myself on being a "withit" dude. But I saw this seminar was going on and said to myself "na, he's not quite ready for an organized seminar" and now I find out there were 13 week old puppies. DANG IT!
Sounds like I missed out big time. I will be at the next one I swear it!
