Hi, my dog is on Honest Kitchen.. well after going to store I discovered that they are out??? for 2 weeks. I ordered some on line, but wont be here till Tuesday. I took Solid Gold, the only thing I could find in that store. I live in small town and there is no other store that has Honest Kitchen. The question is: is it OK if my dog to eat a bit Solid Gold mixed with the rest of Honest kitchen I have left? Just for few days? I have never had a situation like this. The reason I am asking is because he seems kind of.. "fatter" to me after only one day, also poops a lot.
Any thoughts? I hope I did not make a huge mistake. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
No worries. Your dog should survive quite well on the Solid Gold betweeen now and Tuesday. Often times the dogs don't like to eat kibble once they've been on the raw based diets, but if he's eating happily this is good. You could also just mix him up a balanced ration of raw foods yourself to feed him rather than using the kibble. Its really not to complicated, and for the short time that he will be on it doesn't need to be perfectly balanced. However since you already purchased the Solid Gold, he should do fine with this. Mixing with the Honest Kitchen that you have left is a good idea. The increased bowel movements are normal with a sudden dietary change. I doubt that he's packed on real pounds in just a day, however kibble does tend to take longer to be digested and can sometimes give the dog a more bloated appreance than what you may be used to (though I find this varies a little from dog to dog). Make sure that he gets lots of fresh water too.
If you have any questions send me a note, I'd be happy to share any advise I can.
