I did not know how many breeds of dogs that were being banned. I happened upon a sight http://www.rott-n-chatter.com They have a web page that shows which states and counties are banning dogs and what kind of breed was banned. I got mad at the breeds I was seeing being banned. Dobermans, German Shepards, Rottweilers, Shar pais, Chows. Just about any breed of dog that has a mean look, especially pitbulls.
It outraged me that these politicians are given the right to tell us what type of dog we can and cannot have. All of these dogs listed above are good dogs. I think it is ashame that they punish good and responsible dog owners because of bad owners.

Not only that, but many of the homowners/liability insurance carriers have specific breed banns. Here in california it is "slim pickens" when it comes to finding carriers who do not bann specific breeds.
I was lucky enough to find good home owners ins. that didn't go up because I have pitbulls. I just do not understand where they get their info from. Did you know that last year out of the number of dog bites reported that breeds like pits, GSD,and dobermans were at the bottom of the list. They #1 and 2 dogs were #1 cocker spaniel # retrievers- golden. They bite more people last year then the so called " mean looking" dogs. The cocker spaniel had more child related dog bites than any.

I am very aware of the problems with in the insurance industry. Unfortunately, they can do what they want with regards to what dogs they will or will not allow to be owned by their policy holders, regardless of the actual facts.

And, of course, all of us here on this site are painfully aware of the true statistics are, and if truth be told, insurance companies would prefer to be able to write policies with clauses disallowing all dog bite coverage. Here in California, for many years, we had a "one free bite" type system, but that went out the window years ago!
You are right. I totally agree with you. Companies have policies and rules. Not just for the sake of having them just to cause problems, but for their protection to, liability is a big key issue for any Ins. company. Just like a car ins. can just drop you for getting a speeding ticket.

I have issues with insurance companies. The original idea was for people to be able to pay a premium in order to protect themselves against catastrophic loss. Now, at least in California, the companies prefer people to pay for nothing.

I meant to pay big bucks for very little coverage. Anyway, Ithink I digress from the original subject (sorry Ed) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />
