It's really sad that people are so ignorant in reading/knowing how to properly care for a dog. You should never leave a kid alone in the yard while a dog is being fed.

It is a shame that Animal Control has decided to put the dog down instead of using this situation to educate the public. I think that Animal Control should have full power to let people know when they have done something STUPID. But that is regarded as unprofessional and not allowed. Instead we just have to read about dogs being put into situations where it is absolutely normal for them to react the way they do, and then get euthanized for it.
If the dog had no history of aggression before then it should be obvious to ALL what happened.
