I resently bought a pup with a limited contract,however when i recieved his puppy papers the area that says I am to have a limited reg. was not shaded in and where it says weather or not I am to use there kennel name it was NOT signed .. I signed the contract that said these things were in the agreement so Im not sure what to do about regerstering him with akc..
If the breeder is in your area, have them correct it. Otherwise, shade it in. As for the kennel name, that is there for the seller to sign if they actually registered their kennel name with the AKC, not everybody does, again need to ask.
I personally do not give these papers to the buyer. When they pick up their puppy, I have them sign the papers, then I mail them in, that way there's no problem with things not being filled out properly.
i'm not sure if this is helpful or not, but my initial puppy contract read that he was "guaranteed" to be registered w/AKC; however, it didn't state any recourse if things didn't go through.
after talking to both an attorney, and the breeder, it was amended before i ever signed the contract. the bottom line: NEVER SIGN ANYTHING you're uneasy about. EVER. and READ what you sign. basic lessons from my Mom to me, to all y'all.
