Cesar is having a seminar here in St. Louis sometime in November. I plan to attend to get a little more insight on him. It will be very interesting to see if his methods are openly discussed in front of a group of people that, I suspect, will be predominantely "furkid" folks.
I'd be interested in comments about his DVD also.
I'll see you there! I'm from Columbia and plan on making the trip myself. I'm not a total fan girl, but the guy, from what I hear, is a real class act. Many of his seminar proceeds go to rescues/shelters or other projects. He did a seminar for a fund raiser for the White Shepherd Genetics Project and the coordinator had this to say about him (from their website http://www.wsgenetics.org/new.html ): "When I counted the money in our donation jar, there was a $100 bill in there. Pam Koons told me that Cesar dropped it in the jar. Giving is what this man does whether it is his love and support, his expertise, his time, or his own funds."
To the original topic, it is most unfortunate that the producers and the editors feel this way, but pragmatically speaking, his show would be gone so fast if he demonstrated the e-collar. The biggest thing his shows have taught me is to stay cool as I'm rather "frustratable" by nature and I do have to remember my biology in that alpha wolves don't pitch a fit when their subordinates step out of line.

At least Cesar isn't using treats to bribe dogs. He is teaching pack leadership. Most people do not realize this is the foundation to having a great dog. I think he's doing a good service even with the editing. I know lots of people who are not into dog training that are starting to change their ways because of his show.
You can teach pack leadership and still use food and toy rewards. I see in another thread you want to teach a dog to go out, lay down, stay and then come back to you in a heel position? Good luck teaching that without "bribery". Pack leadership and rewards aren't even the same thing.
Dogs can be taught to do these tasks without food and toy rewards, no problem.
