A women in VA was sentenced tothree years in prison today. Here 3 Pitts had killed an 82 year old women - good for the courts. It should have been 30 years not three
ARGH! Why must trash always own pitbulls?!? This kind of thing infuriates me . One moron in a trailer is no more likely to be able to control 13 labs than 13 pits; this is just sickening...and the dogs are going to be the ones everyone remembers, not the pathetic trash who kept them in doubtless less-than-ideal conditions. Three years is a joke; this person probably looks at it as three years free room and board. What will it take for people to open their eyes and see the REAL pitbull issue?
Dang, i hate this. I am a pitbull owner and i agree, everyone will remember it was a pitbull and not concentrate on the owner. Sooner or later the BSL will hit my area, the writing is already on the wall due to dog fighting and hog rodeos in my area. If you are not in a professional capacity that calls for that amount of dogs i have no idea why you would want or need 13 dogs. She probably was a backyard breeder and had no experience and was selling pups to whomever had $150. If you have been citated numerous times for animal violations i say give them LIFE before their dogs take one. i know that will never pass but these type of people hinder the good folks from enjoying these nice dogs.
I agree, 10 years for each dog, and then maybe tack on another 10 years because the victim was a senior citizen. Make it 40 years. Getting to the age of 82 must be hard enough, and then to be killed by dogs is a horribly tragic end. 3 years is better than nothing though and hopefully prison sentences will make a difference in responsible ownership.
Such a sad story, but I bet it wouldn't have gotten nearly 1/2 the media coverage if it was a lab! Just shows how BSL has damaged a generally good dog breed. My 10-month-old GSD pup was recently killed by an off-leash pit bull in my neighborhood, however I do not blame the breed, I blame the owner that trained his dog to be dog-aggressive and neglected to keep his dog contained on his property. This is an upscale neighborhood and still there are these problems! I think any owner, reguardless of breed, should be investigated by an SPCA officer to see if they have prior arrests for any type of animal abuse or abuse on humans. Turns out the owner of the pit bull that killed my GSD got out of jail 12 months earlier from MANSLAUGHTER charges!
