Perhaps Southern Californians are just spoiled by all the good weather but what are you guys protocol for training in the rain? Usually club is canceled and nobody shows up, even if its just misting out.
I see the rain as a potential trial condition and something that should be trained in. I took my bitch out on Tuesday and it was a heavy drizzle. She seemed to forget how to sit and wouldn't platz so I'm pretty glad I took her out and got some corrections in. It would be pretty embarassing to have it rain in a trial and have everything go out the door.
So do you guys take advantage of the rain to train in or stay home?
Along the same lines (perhaps a different topic) ... What about tracking in or after the rain?

Your spoiled If I wouldn´t train in the rain, I would not have that many trainingdays I´ll train in rain, freezing cold etc.
We train in all weather rain and snowstorm included. When it is cold and wet the handler needs protective cloths to keep warm. When it his hot and sunny the dog needs water and shade to keep cool. Even sometimes sugar to recuperate from the heavy training.
My motto is that as long as there is not lightning and the footing is safe for the dogs, I train in it. Heck, there is no better envronmental proof than doing out of sight sits and downs in a downpour
I'm sure that if it ever rained here ( it's 68 degrees with the sun shining as usual ) I would train in it, but so far........

Even if my club cancels due to rain I train unless it is during a Thunderstorm. I have tracked after a heavy rain & during the rain. If you want your dog to work in all types of weather conditions you better train under those conditions. Because like you said you never know what type of weather may occur during a trial.
