I have a question dealing with dobermans being protection dogs. Is protection bred into certain lines or do you teach the dog through training. I remember Ed saying something about schutzhund being bred out of the dobermans from Germany. Is protection the same way? The reason I ask is because there are breeders that claim their eight week old puppies for sale are protection dogs.
How can you recognize the required traites in a puppy? I'd be reluctant to go on a, "oh ya he's got it," from a breeder without a well known reputation. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />
Does the video on raising a working puppy cover this?
It covers how to evaluate the individual potential in a litter of pups -- but I believe it pretty much assumes you will be testing weanlings from working lines, not show lines <:-)
