with all the sick people in this world making it a hobbie to poison and kill dogs i was thinking about putting metal grill's on my rear windows so when they are down do one could ever throw anything in the truck and also the dog couldn't get out not that she would. it wouldn't bother lily because i could have both windows down just a thought
arg.... when I was a kid, the golden retriever that was my best friend was killed that way. It appears that some trash who moved into the house located directly behind the dog owner's residence threw food with rat poison over the fence. I hear that's a painful way to go too (I didn't see it).
I've seen dogs offered for sale that are trained not to take food from strangers - - that sounds like a characteristic I'd like my new dog to have.

My dogs are trained not to take food from anyone. The mail carrier has to give the treat to me to give the dog with me when we meet him outside, or put it on the ground, at which my dog looks up at me and I say "OK."
This does not mean that I trust them not to pick up something in the yard and eat if if I'm not there to say "drop it" --- only not to accept food handed to them by someone else. I patrol my yard often, and I learned it from a tragedy to a member of this forum last year with a guest's accidental dropping a bottle of meds in his yard and his dogs eating them. One of the two survived.
I learned an indelible lesson from that, and I hope many of us did. It was dark out, and he probably would not have seen the item anyway, so I learned from that about accompanying the dogs when they go out for the bedtime pee.
I know I got a little bit off topic, but we do what we know, and here's a chance to know more.
i have a f350 crew cab pick up 4 door as far as being left alone long enough it only takes you to turn your back and something can happen so time isn't a factor
