WTF? Ok, I have know idea what these dogs are good for, are they even a real breed? WHy would you want a "German Shepherd" dog this big? How did they become to be?
The Shiloh Shepherd is a breed of shepherd claimed to be founded by Tina Barber in 1991. I don't think that they claim to be German Shepherd Dogs. Don't know if they are registered as Shiloh Shepherd. None of their characteristics are close to the GSD standard.
If you want to see some dog owner drama, click on the "talk" section of the page at the top. Looks like Wikipedia turned the screws on a bunch of nutty editors. That does not happen often.
The link Woody gave says that Tina Barber split with the AKC in 1990. The Shiloh Shepherd is not recognized by any major kennel club. They are only recognized by some Rare Breed organizations.
That article also states that "Their self-confidence and superior intelligence leads them to excel at many activities such as obedience, schutzhund, tracking and others." Any proof of that any of you all had seen?
I can change the entry (you can too if the mood hits you)...I would encourage you all to check out your dog areas of interest at Wikipedia, in any case, to correct factual errors and bias introduced by previous article editors. Anyone can change the content there.
Yeah, I saw this on Wikipedia and I've started hearing a bunch about them from there on. I have Never heard anything about exceling in protection and so on.
As a breed they're prone to major health problems. They tend to have temperament issues, and their working ability is low to nil.
And oh yes....most of the breeders for these animals are certified kooks.
You'd be much better off with picking up a dog from a shelter before getting one of these problems in the making.

So this dog is just basically for "Show and Tell", huh?
