Good advice Kim - it could be something minor. One of my dogs had ringworm when she arrived here, a pink, smaller than nickle sized mark on her muzzle - a vet appt is the best way to know for sure. Good luck!
Hey John,
Just so you and others will be aware-Don't be feeling on your dog's pink spot-dogs can get the human variety of herpes. It may look like a "pink spot" or several pink spots, or blisters.
It can transmit to people. It's incurable. Wash your hands and be careful. Dogs who spend time with kids who go to day care or similar situations with other kids are susceptible-kids in a group setting pick it up from each other very easy with the touching and playing.
Just a heads up for everyone who finds pink or raw spots on their dog. My bitch picked this up as a young dog from the group of kids who used to walk her and rub her belly...The sun and also maybe I think too much peanut butter (in the kong) still sometimes sets it off every summer if she's outside much, and I have to take precautions with the spots/blisters.
A mild case of demodex can also appear as a bald slightly irritated spot. Juvenile demodex can show up anytime under a year of age and usually appears in round spots up to the size of a quarter. Auster had these as a pup and I have noticed what might have been a few more spots as an adult.
It's impossible to know what it is without seeing it in person and probably doing a skin scrape.
