Just had dinner in NYC with a former associate who has since moved to Richmond. He says crime down there is violent and prevalent and this would seem to corroborate that assesment.
I'd love to see the owners jack an off-duty cop who dispatches them with extreme prejudice and finds the dog a good home thereafter. One can dream...
I'd wait to see a photo of this "pit bull" before going into any breed discussion.... The only discription of the dog was "light brown" and the police department did not state a breed of dog, only a witness. Maybe it is a pitty... maybe it wasn't. At least the dog - whatever breed - didn't bite and do further damage to the reputation of protection trained dogs.
After living in Richmond for over 13 years I can assure you that it was a Pit or PitX. It is the prefered dog of the PWTs and Thugs here. As for the violent crime rate for Richmond and outlaying counties it tends to stay with in a couple of zip codes. Often the perps had former residences in NYC, DC, Baltimore and WV
I think that the news story should be titled "Three attackers mug and rob man". (But then it wouldn't have been newsworthy, I guess) Sounds to me like the muggers just happened to have a dog with them, the guy that was robbed thought it was a pit bull, and so the news media decided that the dog was used as a weapon.
