I am looking for a trainer or training partners in the Jackson, Wyoming area. My primary focus is on Schutzhund however, to my knowledge there are no clubs in the entire state of Wyoming. (And believe me, I have looked extensively.) Does anyone know of a good trainer or club that I can train with in the Jackson area? I would be happy to travel up to 150 miles round trip to train on the weekends. Weekdays are a bit less flexible due to work, but before and after work are also do-able. Thanks.
Your state has an active police dog association. It also has standards based on the Northern German system of police dog training.
You might make contact with one of their reps and see if they are aware of anything.

Thanks for your reply. I hadn't thought of that. Would you know what agency I would conact for that information? I don't believe the Jackson Police Department has any police dogs except for a couple of narc dogs that they borrow from the county when the need arises. I've met a couple of the handlers with narc dogs and none do any Sch training. My Plan B is to try to get into a SAR group and train for wilderness and avalanche with them, but Sch would still be my first choice.

Thanks for the information. I had thought of that club, but they are about 5 hours away from me -- if the weather and roads are agreeable. I guess this is what I get for moving to the boonies... Thanks anyway.
I am in Billings, Montana which is closer than Bozeman but still a haul from Jackson :-) We have a training group here and there is a fellow Leerburg poster by the name of Hugh who lives in Sheridan that comes up occasionally to train. He might be someone to contact. If you are ever up north, we train every weekend.

By the way, the photos of your dog are awesome! I've never seen a Sch cattle dog before. Very impressive. You must be proud.
