This is extremely hard for me. Yesterday I lost my boy Aiko. Words can't describe what he meant to me. I can say he was a good dog. Sometime's stubborn as a jack ass but always wagging his tail. He died shortly after 11 am from a heat stroke. Monday the weather at the time was about 90 degrees and was about 5 pm. He had been outside for 10-15 minutes, no longer. Became very lethargic. I hosed him down, dried him off and brought him into the house away from his usual spot in my air conditioned shed. He got better and was walking around drinking water but keeping to himself. I went outside this morning and took him with me to let him relieve himself and feed the other 3 outside, he used the bathroom, I called him to the shed so he could lay down in there and he walked in ahead of me and collasped. I immediately called my vet and said I was on my way. He was conscious but had gone into shock, when I touched his muzzle to look at his gums he bit me. When I got him to the vet I pulled him from my back seat, he attempted to get up but was too weak, as I carried him in.. he died in my arms. I placed him on the examination table, kissed him and walked out crying. I had already decided while en route that I was gonna have him euthanized. A very very hard decision but I knew it was the right one. He died in my arms, he would not have wanted it any other way.
