Has anyone dealt with these before? I know they are the "bad" kinds of worms but have never had a dog with them. I have a rescue now from a puppymill situation, and she was loaded with them. She has of course been treated, but I'm interested if anyone has dealt with them and if it was problematic etc. Thanks.
Laureen, I got a dog (GSD/Dane) from the pound years ago. When I foud out about the Hook worm the vet said if I couldn't sterilize my yard (kill everything) I could only hope for a long, hot, dry summer. Luckily, we had the long, hot, dry sumer. Never had them before or since. I don't know how they would clean things up now.
One should always have an iso. area to contain such prolems ( house on concrete 10x10 run, easy to disenfect and able to keep track of stool and urine quailty to help determine the health of the dog) till concerns have passed, some concerns do not show up right away.Put the dog on the back 40ty.
