The original reason the prong/pinch collar was developed? I had a discussion with a friend of mine yesterday who asked me that question after she sent me a quote from an article that stated that the pinch collar was devised as a method to make dogs bite when the German military was training them... Any thoughts on that?
I don't know if that was the reason or place that the prong was developed. I do know that using a prong correctly can be used by an experience trainer to "turn on the nerves" of a dog in protection work. Another way of saying it is that it causes the dogs to switch drives. The purpose and methid of why and how are beyond the scope of this thread.
I understand that the collar can be used by a skilled trainer to switch the drive that the dog is in. I do have an elementary understanding of how and why, and I agree that is beyond the scope of this thread.
What I don't know is how/why the prong collar was developed. I have done a few google searches to try to find the answer, but I am having no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I might be able to find the answer to my question?
