I am new here to this forum, I guess I wanted to just share my
excitement about my new puppy. My husband and I have been working with dogs for over 20 years. We have always had GSD's, my husband Craig, is a k9 Officer with Toronto Police, his Patner "Aldo" is a czech GSD and is a incredible dog!
Over the last six or seven years I have gained a interest in these "little red devil dogs" after watching them work in sport and on the job and have really grown on me. So recently, the time has come to get another puppy! I think Craig assumed we would be getting another gsd, I told him I wanted to get a mal, and he agreed! YIPPY! Well, we are hoping our new addition will possess the drive and focus we are looking for to compete in schutzhund.
The puppy, who's name will be TALON, will be born at the end of July 2006 and will be ready in Sept. UGH! this waiting is killing me already, I feel like a mother who is expecting lol! His breeder is arek-malinois and his parents are
A'Farley Von Donnertal & Brax Ot Vitosha
From what I can tell he has good working lines...
I can't wait to have him home and begin our new lives together, I will post updates on him when I can. I'm sure I will have ton's of questions about mal's, as this is our first and I hear they are a whole lot different from the gsd. Wish us luck!

Amanda,
Congrats, good luck, wish you well, have fun and be firm in your training ...... I got my first MALI in December of 2005 and have had nothing but complete fun (okay, maybe some frustration when she ate some of the couch, learned how to open the gate in her pen, pulled my jacket into her crate and ate it, picking on the bloodhound, chasing after the cats and trying to be a bird dog, "HA HA all this is said in love and fun") with her training. She is in training for Human Remains Detection and Airscent for SAR and is doing VERY well. She has got to be the most challenging (but willing to learn) dog I have had (my Bloodhound is a runner up as far as obedience)and I look forward to a second MALI. They are great dogs. I had to wait almost a year to get the right one and it was a painful wait as well. Once the word came that she was coming, time just seemed to drag and drag......But it was WELL worth the wait.
Again, have fun.
