After months of difficult decision making, I had my GSD euthanized this morning for an irreversible behavioral condition.
Bree taught me more about dog training than any other dog I've handled. I am very grateful for the time I could own and train her.
It became heartbreaking to watch a dog that had given me so much and tried so hard suffer through contant overstimulation and sudden, inexplainable fears. She experienced one thing today that she never experienced before: peace.
These posts always make me cry. I'm so sorry for the painful loss of your very special friend. Judging from all the great posts I've read from you I would say Bree was a very lucky dog indeed to have had you in her life.

Anne, you worked so hard for, and with, Bree. You left no stone unturned.
You each got so much out of your shared relationship. What a contribution her life was!
anne--with you. it's ok, for you and especially HER. it's so hard to say "good girl, it's a good girl.." but i'm sure you did great in the moment. and from what i've seen of you on the forum, please take what you've learned from bree, and help all the rest of us dumbies!
Anne, What a difficult decision to make. I have no doubt that you did everything humanly possible to make life good for Bree. Heart to heart....peace be with you.
