This reminded me of something I was reading a while back. The is a guy who trains pibbles for French Ring. He declines to teach his dog to bite on the object guard exercise. He states that because of the breed, he does not want his dogs to learn they can bite when he is not commanding them to. Perhaps it is excessive, but IMO a good measure of caution.
That is a good alternative. I probably would train one or two but there are no sch or frinch ring or asr around where I live. 1 hour north of syracuse. I also have that going against me.
I agree with will. Though I understand the video and have no problem with it. I believe he was just saying that unfortunately the media won't show obedience of friendliness they will show a 5 - 10 second clip of dog biting and use it a a sound bite for pitbull aggression.
I personally feel that even though I love and own the pit bull breed. If I want to participate in ring or such I would rather use a mal or gsd. They are better at it over all. Yeah there is an occasional pit that is great but over all they excell in other things such as weight pull.
Any ways just my two cents.
Pitbulls do really good in agility also. I have a friend who's pitty is going through the training and boy does that girl fly and hit every mark. They also use her for fun in local frisbee competitions, she hasn't lost yet. The air she can put under her is amazing!!!
