We just bought an 11 week old boxer male puppy from a breeder. We currently have a 5yr old female boxer.
We're following strict housebreaking rules but we've hit a situation where we are not sure how to proceed. The puppy had an accident in his kennel last night - as a result he cried and whined. I got up, went downstairs and took him outside. I then cleaned his kennel thoroughly. I am assuming that is the correct procedure but wanted to double check since I normally never take the puppy out of his kennel when he is barking/crying - any thoughts/recommendations?
I don't really see it as such a big deal. It's not like the dog was doing it because it just wanted attention, it did it because it probably felt very uncomfortable. My older dog did that once as a puppy, then she never went in her crate again. I think some dogs are more sensitive to laying in their own mess than others. Just remember to take the puppy out before you go to bed. At that age my pup would still wake me up from time to time to go out at 2:30 AM. <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
