I'm using mine for the first time today but can't get my dog to react on first testing for his level.
I've adjusted the collar and wiggled it around etc. but still no luck.
I know the collar works as I've tested it on myself but I just got the the 60 mark without somuch as a blink, and don't want to go any further until I know if I'm making a mistake or not.
I don't think I am but something is wrong somewhere. He's a hairy little shit and maybe that has something to do with it but I'm sure I've got the contacts on the skin.
Please Advise

UPDATE*****************
I've taken the stim up by 2 counts until I got a reaction from him but it wasn't till it got over 100. This unit goes up to 127. All he did was body jerk a little bit and nothing more I kept going till about 114 and he finally showed a sign that he felt something. Maybe he does feel it from 60 upwards but just doesn't show it?
I've followed all the guidelines in Ed's DVD for watching the signs but unless I've missed them there were none until the 100 mark.
Try wetting his fur just a little where the probes make contact and make sure you are using the longer probes to be sure you in fact do have good contact. You can also thes the collar if you have a meter to see exactly what it's putting out.
Good Luck,
Jason

Some days you're the dog, and some days you're the hydrant.
You might not be getting the best contact. You can get longer contact points from Dogta for the collar. I did for my male. The contact was not consistant enough, 'cause contact wasn't that great all the time. He has a very heavy coat on his neck & it was longer contacts or trim or shave his hair on the neck where the collar contacts rest. I didn't want to shave or trim his fur, but that is another option. Someone on the board not too long ago pm'd me & said that both of their dogs were at a working level of 80 & almost 100 as a starting point on the collar. I just think that if that is the case that it doesn't leave you very far to go if you really need to 'turn up the volume' for a responce in an emergency situation. So I think that if I had to have that high # as a starting point I would try shaving his neck & see if you can get a better more consistant contact that way & maybe have a lower # starting point. JMO
John - I have the 2-dog Dogtra collars and really love them. However, I went through the same thing you are until I was assured everything was okay. My harder dog gives me an eye blink at 95 and a head jerk at 100-105. My softer dog responds at 80 and 85. I know it only goes up to 127, but mine was tested this summer when they both spotted a bear and took off after it. I got my harder dog back at 119 and the softer one just followed. Also, I had previously asked Ed if 127 would be enough stim under distraction and he assured me it would be. I found this was true with the bear. Hope this helps, and good luck.

Anne - we must have been posting at the same time. And John, I'm the poster she was talking about! Yes, my levels are high, but the collar did work under extreme distraction. However, I think I will look into getting the longer contact points to see if they make a difference.
I have had mine for about 4 weeks now. Seems to work really well. My dog is not as hard as you describe and I usually can get the reaction I am looking for at around 40-45, but have had to dial it up to around upper 60 lower 70 when he was jacked up. On the few times I have had to move the level up that high he just shook his head.
